Emergency Preparedness Working Group

The SFFEB sponsors an Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG) which meets on a quarterly basis. Resources & discussion topics regularly include: COOP/CiP Planning, Cross-Sector Trainings, Pandemic Planning, Emergency Notification, Catastrophic Threats Planning, Employee Resiliency, Continuity of Government Exercises, etc.

All employees tasked with emergency responsibilities are encouraged to participate in the working group. Any interested federal employee can attend the working group meetings.

Leadership Development Program

  • For Staff at GS 11-13 or equivalent
    The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a program developed by the SFFEB competency-based program that provides training and developmental experiences for high-potential GS11-13s and prepares them for leadership positions in the Federal government. It holds special significance for employees who need to complement their technical expertise with professional leadership knowledge, skills, and experience. A structure has been designed for program participants to acquire or build on the competencies needed to become successful Federal leaders.
  • Leadership Development Program goals:
    • Prepare participants for senior leadership positions within the Federal government
    • Assess and develop members’ aptitude and capabilities about the Executive Core Qualifications through a variety of experiential training methods
    • Enable participants to work with Federal agencies to identify and solve real organizational problems
    • Expose participants to leadership and management best practices of both governmental and non-governmental organization

Federal Employee of the Year Awards (FEYA) Program

The FEYA Winners are announced at the FEYA Awards during Public Service Recognition Week (usually the first week in May).  This event has been held for over 50 years and continues to celebrate the work of Federal service in Northern California. 

Veterans Federal Employment Collaborative (VFEC)

The VFEC fosters an environment of cooperation and communication to eliminate or reduce barriers to Veterans’ employment; share best practices regarding recruitment of transitioning Service Members, Veterans, and Military Spouses; and provide special assistance for any Veteran, especially those who are disabled, during the federal employment process.

The VFEC is a resource for you and your agency to find talent and fill critical vacancies. The VFEC facilitates discussions among federal partners on the utilization of special hiring authorities (SHA); best practices for using the VA’s Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) and DoD’s SkillBridge (DoDSB) programs; identification of critical vacancy needs; and promoting those needs across multiple hiring platforms and employment networks.
