About This FEB

We have several phenomenal federal properties in our area. The first is the John F. Kennedy Museum. On November 10, 1961, President John F. Kennedy directed the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission to arrange for the establishment of the Federal Executive Boards to create closer coordination between Washington D.C. and the field. Second, we have the George W. Bush Presidential Center Library, and Museum at Southern Methodist University.

Finally, at FEMA Region 6 we have a Devolution Site. Deep beneath the surface, an underground fortress resides. Built in 1961, during the Cold War era the bunker was designed to survive a one megaton nuclear blast detonated within a mile of the facility. It was prepared with power generators, an air filtration system and several blast doors covering the stairwells and elevators that lead to two underground floors.

Additionally, through regular working group meetings and exercises, they ensure ongoing collaboration for a unified response.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Shared Neutrals Committee: monitors the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)/Shared Neutral Program. They assess the program's effectiveness for member agencies by monitoring its use and conducting evaluations. To gain a deeper understanding of the program, committee members may attend mediation sessions as observers and participate in relevant training opportunities.
  • EEO/Diversity Committee: champions diversity and equal opportunity (EEO) for federal employees in DFW FEB Geographic Area. Throughout the year, they sponsor at least two educational or training events, both in-person and online options. These events cover a broad range of topics, including employee recruitment strategies, job fairs, fostering diversity for veterans, and dedicated EEO forums. Furthermore, the committee actively participates in, or even hosts, events celebrating special emphasis programs like Women's History Month, Asian Pacific Heritage Month, and Black History Month.
  • Workforce Development and Support Committee: identifies and addresses local training needs within the DFW FEB Geographic Area. They sponsor at least two comprehensive education or training programs annually, offered in-person, virtually, or on-demand for maximum flexibility. These programs can be multi-session endeavors like rotation programs, leadership development programs at various levels, mentoring programs, or targeted skill development and retirement planning training.
  • Strategic Partnerships Committee: fosters collaboration with various stakeholders including state and local governments, aligning with White House initiatives and local priorities. They also promote volunteer opportunities and serve as a communication hub. The committee relays information to federal agencies about the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and assists the Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC) in recruiting members. Additionally, they act as a liaison with various government officials and maintain a best practices handbook to ensure smooth communication with Congressional offices, Mayoral offices, and state officials.
  • Awards/Recognition Committee: oversees the annual Public Service Awards program, recognizing outstanding achievements amongst the agencies in the DFW FEB Geographic Area.
